My thesis explores the impact of Iceland’s unique seasonal shifts on residents’ well-being and social isolation, driven by current architectural practices characterized by urban sprawl. The study aims to enhance residents’ quality of life by reimagining vernacular community-based living and aligning architectural design with Iceland’s natural environment, leveraging the distinct daylight exposure and connection to water to foster healthier, more connected communities.
